The first Goricalton succeed, collected over 5,000 € for the Centre for protection and training Nova Gorica

The first Goricalton event was marked by great weather and even better atmosphere. Despite teething troubles, the organizers successfully accomplished our twelve-hour event thanks to a bit of luck, improvisation and a lot of goodwill of all the participants. From 8 am to 8 pm we could see on the route over 300 runners and walkers who did ​​exactly 3070 laps, which amounts to slightly less than 3000km.

For the Centre for protection and training Nova Gorica (VDC Nova Gorica) there were collected 4,936 € of donations, given for the accomplished laps and about 200 € obtained through the sale of souvenirs and donations from participants and passers-by. Together we collected over 5,000 €!

The three fastest teams were awarded with the trophy by the Mayor of the Municipality of Nova Gorica, Matej Arčon. After the initial prize-giving ceremony there was a change since half an hour before the end of the race, the last runner of the team "Osemindvajseti december" had lost his chip and then the meter had not considered the final 10 laps. In agreement with other runners and thanks to a great Fair Play by the awarded teams, we considered all the completed rounds and changed the order of the first three teams, namely:

1st place - 183 laps - ŠD Podnanos - K2 Sport

2nd place - 169 laps - Osemindvajseti december

3rd place - 161 laps - FORTeam

Valentina Pahor, president of the Rotary klub Nova Gorica, awarded the trophy to the teams who collected the highest number of funds. The Team Rotary Club of Nova Gorica as the organizer eliminated himself from the winners and awarded the trophy for 3rd place to the fourth team Suvel Šport. The director of the sponsor Suvel Šport , Mr. Marko Velikonja, was pleased to accept the trophy and emphasized the importance of this award as a motivation for his team for the next year event.

3rd place - 402€ - Suvel Šport

The organizer would like to thank all the participants of the event Goricatlon, especially the many volunteers who as guardians, accompanying persons or in any other role have made ​​possible the realization and the success of this event!
